Dawne has worked in clinical direction and consultation for child welfare, custody, and child/adolescent agencies since 1993. In addition, she has provided training seminars, supervision, and direction for professionals. Dawne is specialized in the area of sex offender specific treatment.

Dawne supervised programming for difficult to serve adolescents and their families for a childen’s mental health facility in London and Ailsa Craig in Ontario. She was involved with clinical direction and supervision for both correctional and treatment programming and assisted with group work formatting and planning for day treatment programs. Dawne directed operations of an 8 bed residential treatment unit and a 10 bed residential treatment unit, both for adolescents struggling with a variety of mental health challenges. In addition, Dawne participated in greater community children’s planning, via committee participation, with Children’s Services Network in London.

Previously, Dawne worked extensively with head-injured adults in residential- and community-based settings, enabling them to reintegrate into society following a traumatic brain injury. She has previously worked in Mississauga in the area of children’s mental health. This was in a community-based program that provided an alternative intervention format for hard to serve families and their latency age children in a multi-cultural community.

Dawne has counselled adult and adolescent correctional clients at the London Probation and Parole Central Office. She has also facilitated a group for sexually abused pre-adolescent and adolescent families at Children’s Aid Society and has participated in crisis intervention and protection work at this agency.

Dawne has also participated in numerous research projects including program evaluation and children’s mental health research. The research work led to a publication and award noted in the Ontario Association of Professional Social Workers’ News Magazine, and the Ministry of the Solicitor General. She has written various articles including publication in the Village Voice News.
